WA, Redmond, United States (4E) – After cyberattacks on Facebook,
Twitter and Apple, hackers found a new target in Microsoft. The software
giant experienced a similar cyberattack when a small number of its
computers were subject to malicious software. The good news is the cyberattack didn’t seem to affect its customers.
“During our investigation, we found a small number of computers, including some in our Mac business unit that were infected by malicious software using techniques similar to those documented by other organizations. We have no evidence of customer data being affected and our investigation is ongoing,” Microsoft stated on a blog post.
Facebook experienced a cyberattack attack on February 16 after some of the laptops of its employees were infected. Another popular social network, Twitter, also revealed that hackers attacked the website on February 2.
The iPhone developer website infected several Mac computers within the company according to Apple.
Microsoft promised to re-evaluate its security in lieu of the recent attacks.
“We continually re-evaluate our security posture and deploy additional people, processes, and technologies as necessary to help prevent future unauthorized access to our networks,” Microsoft added.
